What Are You Asking For?

On second thought, perhaps I should have titled this post “What are you not asking for?” A lot of us go through life hoping for much yet asking for nothing. We have high expectations yet refuse to initiate contact. Some ask amiss; You want a mansion but are praying for a bungalow.

God knows we have needs even before we ask but why do we refuse to ask? Do you think He is incapable? Do you think you would be bothering the Creator of all things or disrupting His already full schedule?

The bible tells us to “ask that we might receive”.

good advice. i fought the whole "i'm not worthy" issue for a long time. I sometimes still do. we've been very blessed financially for the past few years. prior to that, we went through about every challenge a family can go through - losing jobs, deaths, illnesses, having to move, broken bones, flooded homes, serious marriage issues. we've gotten through all with faith. in fact that is exactly how our faith got so strong. we realized we were nothing without GOD and nothing lasts....except GOD. that still sustains us...even in this time of harvest.

when you ask for blessings, people tend to translate that into "greed". i've met lots of broke and poor folk who are far more greedy than i ever thought of being. in fact, i would LOVE to give more than i live on on a monthly basis.

ya gotta be strong in HIM and not count on money, homes, stuff or even people. only HIM.

good post.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, we really are nothing without God. Your testimony of going through so much and having your faith strengthened is an awesome one. May you continue to go from strength to strength in Him.

Not only do people translate asking for blessings into greed, they forget that God can bless us in different ways e.g. in the area of our health, ministry, etc. and often assume it is a financial blessing.

Thanks! Blessings!
